Religious Education Coordinator - St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Concord
St. Francis of Assisi Parish, in Concord, is an active, ethnically diverse Catholic community of more than 3000 households and a K-8 parochial school, RCIA, and other adult formation programs.
The primary responsibilities of the Religious Education Coordinator in the area of children's faith formation for grades 1 through 6 include recruiting and training for catechists; curriculum selection and formation; registration and planning the calendar; designing forms; answering questions; creating policies and procedures; inputting registration information into the computer; opening and closing the classrooms weekly; and overseeing the Little Saints program and registration.
Regarding First Reconciliation/First Communion for the parish and school, duties of the Religious Education Coordinator include recruiting and training for Sacrament Preparation catechists; planning and preparation for classes, retreats and ritual celebrations; and curriculum selection and formation.
Regarding the Children's Catechumenate (RCIA adapted for children), ages 7 and up, duties of the Religious Education Coordinator include training and formation for catechists and curriculum selection.
The Religious Education Coordinator is also the Safe Environment Coordinator and Trainer for the parish. This position reports to the pastor and serves as a member of the parish staff.
Qualifications: Candidate must be a practicing, fully initiated Roman Catholic with a Bachelor’s degree in religious studies or related field, have previous parish experience in the field, and possess managerial skills and the ability to collaborate with parish and school staff and volunteers. Being bilingual in English/Spanish is desirable.
Salary and Benefits: This is a part-time (25 to 30 hours per week) exempt position (some evening and weekends required), with an M-3 salary classification according to diocesan wage scale and benefits.
Position begins: Mid-summer of 2008 with starting-date to be negotiated.
